How to Prepare: Makes about 6 servings. 1 large egg; 1/2 cup cold water divided; 1 tbsp margarine or butter (if butter is used, this cake is not pareve), softened. 1 tbsp boiling water; mixing bowl and mixer. Preparation time: 10 minutes. Bake time: 35-40 minutes. Directions: preheat oven to 350 degrees f. Grease enclosed baking pan. Mix: empty large bag of mix into mixing bowl. Add 1/4 cup cold water and egg. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes or 300 strokes by hand. Add remaining 1/4 cup cold water and mix for an additional 2 minutes. Spread batter evenly in greased pan. Bake: bake at 350 degrees f for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Frosting Prep: Remove cake from pan and cool thoroughly on rack before frosting. Empty small bag of frosting mix into a small bowl. Add 1 tablepsoon margarine or butter and mxi. Gradualy add 1 tablespoon boiling water until desired spreading consistency is reached. Stir until smooth and spread on completely cooled cake. Also Try: Chocolate Nut Crisps: Blend cake mix, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon of water on medium speed of 4 minutes. Add 1/2 cup nuts, chopped and mix until evenly distributed. Drop batter on greased cookie sheet using a teaspoon (about 2 inch apart). Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen crisps.
